August Falls is the first of a series of illustrated publication projects that tackles the idea of our present modern day obsessions with gaining attention and validation from online & virtual platforms. It discusses how we often give up what we truly want for something else, just because it seems to be the "better" thing to do.
This particular series is about August, a fish who feels out of water, like he doesn't belong on land and with others. He isn't traditionally accepted and finds acceptance through vials that are provided to him by the spirit of a box. Through the abuse of this chemical, alluding to the idea of abusing social media, he gains acceptance by "friends". However over the course of the story, August falls prey to the false feelings of security that were created by magic and gives up everything true for this hazy dream.
